MY LIFE ON THE RUN inspirational book feedback
Writing My Life On The Run was often an arduous journey…just ask my wife and cat. However, the rewards have been great and I am always happy to hear from runners and nonrunners near and far about how my story in general or something specific in the book has inspired them in some way. I’ll share a few of the letters I’ve received. You’ll see some runners have their own inspirational stories…

Bart, I was at the 2008 Summer Outdoor Retailer Show, I had just recently began running and I wasn’t sure where I planned on going. You can up to the SKIRTSPORTS
Bart, I was at the 2008 Summer Outdoor Retailer Show, I had just recently began running and I wasn’t sure where it was going, I did not have a plan. You gave me a signed copy of “my life on the run”. As I started reading the book, I planned to run a 5K, now i’m training for a 10K, recently I decided a marathon may be in my future… your book made it look like a way to travel and see the world. Thanks for the inspiration.
Bart:
I had the opportunity to meet you, be photographed with you and purchase you rsigned book at the Ugly Mudder and Shiver by the River banquet.
My Life on the Run was such a pleasant read; inspirational, entertaining, and educational. You deliver with such an unpretentious manner.
I have never, in many hundreds of races, ever had experiences worth telling like yours. Burro racing, running from rhinos in India and scavaging skuas in Antarica left me laughing as I read the chapters twice through. You tell the stories in such a way that there is a lesson learned from every running experience. I lived vicariously through these.
Ron and Helene Horn asked us if we were interested in joining them on the Cruise to Run this year. After hearing about the rewarding experiences, we’ll look into next year.
As you wrote, “Running celebrates our commanality”. It reminds me of why I have always run, still run and will continue to run as long as I can. Good things happen.

Bart, I just finished My Life On the Run and just wanted to thank you for writing it. I wll be running my first 1/2 marathon on April 25th. The Country Music Marathon in Nashville and just ran a 15k trail run last week. I’ve been training since January and am really starting to like running. I’ve followed the a 3 day 1/2 marathon training schedule I found on the Runners World website and have followed it religiously. It’s been the best plan I’ve ever followed (3 day run, 2 day xtrain) and I’m confident I’ll blow by my original goal of 1:48. Sometimes being a “slave to the training” the stories in your book have encouraged me to enjoy the journey a little more and to look for the relationships in running.
Once again, thanks for taking the time to put your life on paper.

I’m not a runner, but the lessons I learned from the book are very much applicable to real life situations.
