Big Sur Marathon
This last weekend in April is always known as BSIM weekend on this beautiful stretch of coastline. What an exciting weekend. The weather was near perfect – some headwinds on a few sections of the course slowed down the runners down a bit. I was in one of the lead cars with Sally Smith the wind didn’t slow us down.
Dean Karnazes did the Big Sur Double by running to the start – leaving Carmel at 2:45 am.
Congrats to all finishers !!!
Bart

I was there and barely felt those headwinds; living in Northern NH at the base of Mount Washington I truly understand headwinds….and tailwinds and winds that that often come from every direction!
It was such a pleasure meeting Bart, chatting and having my book signed.
His book is a great read and I have shared some of his stories with fellow runners. However, I have yet to loan the book (I often share many books) as I have reread a few sections and like the training plans. The last part of the book that gives favorite races and destinations was an inspiration.
I was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and about to face surgery and months of treatment. Cruise to Run is my treat to myself for 2010! Once I beat this cancer and get back on track I’ll be ready for some fun in the sun!
What better way to escape the cold New Hampshire winter!
See you in 2010….a cancer free runner!
